Accommodation

The architecture of the many historical forts of Frontier Country inspired the main structures of Yellow Piano Inn & Burg Lengeling Backpackers. We used contemporary materials to create the venue and the cottages and eco-artworks made from glass bottles became a feature throughout. The buildings are on top of a small hill allowing stunning views of nature and sky in all directions. The cottages are each furnished in different themes: romantic, chaste, afro-kitsch and colonial.

Beautiful nature, which surrounds the backpackers, invites for walks and picnics. Grassland and thickets slope down to a cosy meadow on the banks of the Blaauwkrantz River with alluring spots to sit down and chill. Guests can take the pleasure of a relaxing walk over the 45 hectare land and discover wildlife, watch birds, listen to the hum of sun beetles and crickets and enjoy the fragrance of the natural vegetation. Colourful sunsets and bright shining stars in cloudless nights conclude the day. Delicious meals are available on request and we have a fully licensed bar. A communal kitchen is available for guests to do self-catering and there are braai facilities.

The Cottages and Buildings
The ‘Out-in-Africa’ cottage is furnished with a colonial theme; the west wall has a bottle window with a springbok motive. This beautiful cottage has a double bed and a divan in a spacious room; it has a TV and provides tea and coffee. A small bathroom with eco-geyser is en suite. ‘Villa Sunset’ is a very romantic cottage with a sunset depicted by a bottle window, which glows in the late afternoon sun. It is furnished with a double bed and has a TV corner with armchairs. The cottage has a kitchenette (basin, microwave) and is suitable for some self-catering. It also has a small bathroom with eco-geyser en suite.

The ‘Afrique’ cottage is hidden amongst large plants, which make a cosy patio garden. It is furnished with afro-kitsch style. The main room has two 3/4 beds and another small room has a single bed. Toilet and basin are en suite.

The dormitory cottage ‘Monastery’ is furnished with three single beds and two bunk beds and can sleep up to seven people. Its four gothic style bottle windows remind of a cloister.

The ‘Big Bath House’ offers hot showers, toilets and basins. It is very spacious and is adorned with two very big bottle windows and a mirror mosaic.

The ‘Conservatory’ is an ‘indoor’ garden and an alluring place to comfortably laze or read on the green lounge.

The large ‘Dining Hall’ is home to the Yellow Piano, and resembles a chapel with its rose window made of bottles on the one end and two high symmetrical bottle panels on the other end. A wooden staircase leads to an airy loft and a side wing houses the bar, which boasts another huge bottle window.
