| Our country venue and small bohemian backpackers is located on a hill in the beautiful Manley Flats valley just 20 km from Grahamstown, the cultural Mecca of South Africa. Eco-art using glass bottles and various other materials is the characteristic feature of our venue and backpackers. We are surrounded by a game farm and other farming lands and on our farm we keep a group of zebras and some buck. The grassland with acacia, aloe and euphorbia slopes down to dense riverside thickets. Wild animals living here are small buck, bush pigs, jackals, caracals, genet cats, porcupines, baboons, small monkeys, huge land tortoises, iguanas and a vast variety of birds ranging from the African fish eagle to minute sun birds. The area around Grahamstown is one of the most diverse ecological regions in South Africa. This small town borders on four biomes because four different climate zones converge here. Many nature reserves and game parks are near by and offer game watching, hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities. Driving on the small secondary roads which very often border the many game reserves is locally known as ‘the poor man’s game drive’ and often wild animals can be seen from the road. Grahamstown is an extraordinary charming small university town and Africa’s festival capital. History, culture and art distinguish Grahamstown with its many historic buildings, museums and the National Arts Festival. To be found half-way between Cape Town and Durban Yellow Piano Inn & Burg Lengeling Backpackers is just right to stop over or to stay on for a few days and conveniently explore the nature, wildlife and culture of Frontier Country, Addo Area and Sunshine Coast. |
